Way Back Camping Trip

So, been a long time since we put up blog posts I know, but here I am trying to play catch up.......what can I say I'm pretty good at procrastination.  Also, Josh just left for a 9 day backpacking trip with some guys from work and I'm already bored and trying to figure out stuff I can catch up on while he's gone; does not bode well for the next 8 days.  I digress, here goes....
We went on a camping trip some time ago on the suggestion of a co-worker.  The place is called Silver Falls and is a loop hike with 10 falls interspersed along the way.  Really pretty hike (I haven't really found one yet that is not really pretty).

This was our campsite.  One of the biggest complaints we had about the site was that the campsites were right on top of one another and we happened to pick a weekend where a whole big group of cyclists were doing a big trip so we were surrounded by cyclists nerds the whole evening/night.  Not that I have anything against cyclists, and at least they're not big on getting drunk and yelling all night.  But they did meander from site to site and tell rousing cyclists jokes and fawn over each other's gear a lot.

Below is our lovely attempt at a campfire.  I don't know if you know this, but Oregon's got a lot of rain.  And  moisture.  So much so that even camp wood sold as "dry" tends to leave something lacking.  And mostly makes for a smoldering campfire rather than a roaring one.  Spent the entire evening playing musical chairs trying to get out of the smoke.

We did occasionally see some flames.

And it worked well enough to cook our tasty foil dinners.

Below are some pictures from our lovely hike.  Of course the pictures never do the scenery justice.

A little video featuring one of the larger falls on the hike.

The park is next to town called Silverton.  Really cool little town, actually looked at some jobs there.  They had a house by Frank Lloyd Wright (The Gordon House) relocated there that we got to tour.  Was a pretty cool visit.
